The two Fridas

The Two Fridas, 1939 by Frida Kahlo

We can see two different Frida's in the painting. the one on the right side represents the married Frida, the one who was loved by Diego Rivera. She felt loved and in her hand she holds Diego Rivera's most valuable amulet. The Frida from the left side represents the divorced Frida Kahlo, with an european style dress, with some scissors in her hand. Both of them are connected by heart veins. The one from the right has a normal heart, but the one from the left has a broken heart.

This painting concentrates on two parts of her life, the right part of the painting represents her life with Diego Rivera, but the second part shows her life after her divorce. This painting as well as being painted with style and talent, represents the artists feelings, and what she was going through. The same way people pour their hearts out to their diaries; Frida poured hers out onto paintings.
