"Las Dos Fridas" by Frida Kahlo.

Biographical interpretations

We see two Fridas sitting on a bench, one is dressed up with a classy gown while the other Frida is wearing something simple. They are holding hands, and their hearts seem to be connected by an artery, and thenone with the nice dress is bleeding out, and the other its like an amulet. The colors are neutral, cold colors.

ESSAYS ABOUT THIS ARTWORK

Essay 1

" Shortly after her divorce from Diego Rivera, Frida completed this self-portrait of two different personalities." - Mike Brooks

In our own opinion we think that this is not an adequate interpretation because we don't for sure if Frida had two different personalities, the author says that it was on the time that she divorced Diego, because someone read that on her diary, but we don't know for sure what was she thinking when she was working on this painting.

Essay 2

" One Frida sits on the left of the painting; this sis the Frida that was rejected by Rivera, Her blouse is ripped open, exposing her broken and bleeding heart. The Frida to the right, the one that Rivera still loves, has a heart that is still whole. She holds a small portrait of Rivera in her hand."

We think that this interpretation is not accurate because it is more about the sister, and how Diego didn't like her, but we can't know if he disliked her or he had problems with her or if it was viceversa. So it is not that safe to say what she was thinking, maybe it was her way to say that she was linked to her sister, or her way to express she was happy about the divorce.
