"You'll find a bag embroidered with fleurs-de-lis in the cupboard. Empty out the handkerchiefs you’ll find inside, and take it." She did as I suggested. Then she said, "Turn round now and look how beautiful I am."
In front of the mirror, the hyena was admiring herself in Mary's face. She had nibbled very neatly all around the face so that what was left was exactly what was needed.

"You’ve certainly done that very well," I said.
Towards evening, when the hyena was all dressed up, she declared, "I really feel in tip-top form. I have a feeling I shall be a great success this evening."
Reflection:
This
section of the story shows strong characteristics of surrealism, for example the
unconscious mind by the physical transformation that the hyena goes through by putting
Mary’s face on, also the fantasies and rebellions of society because we can see
the great desire of the hyena to be a human and part of the society and the
rebellion of the girl that doesn’t want to attend the ball. Some literary techniques
used in this section are the speaking animals, when the hyena talks and the narrator´s
lack of morals, concern for others and
the lack of fear of the consequences of their actions. Even though this part of the story is quite
shocking, the characters acted in a very normal and casual way, like if wearing
someone else’s cut- off face was like putting make up on.
