The Cradle by Leonora Carrington
(1945)
One of the sculptures that we saw in class was The Cradle by Leonora Carrington. This sculpture was made in 1945, and it is considered part of the surrealist movement. It is a very interesting piece of art, it is made for a baby to sleep on it. The drawings around it are representing the different dreams that a baby can have. Dreams are very important in surrealism because they have no limits and maybe that is what Leonora wanted to express with this sculpture.
